Grades 7-8 Program

Our Grades 7–8 program challenges students to expand their knowledge, refine their critical thinking, and apply their learning in increasingly complex contexts. The curriculum includes English, French as a Second Language, Mathematics, Science, Geography, and History & Citizenship Education.

For students requiring a Modified Academic Program (MAP), we offer courses in English, French and Math, allowing a space for students with diverse academic profiles.

List of 6 items.

  • English

Students further refine their reading, writing, and oral communication skills, focusing on deeper comprehension, organized, purposeful writing, and clear, confident verbal communication. They engage in reading responses that analyze and make meaningful connections between themselves, characters, and themes, while developing writing that incorporates descriptive techniques, personal narratives, and structured essays.
  • French as a Second Language

Students focus on strengthening reading, writing, and oral communication skills, enabling students to build greater fluency, accuracy, and confidence while using French in a variety of authentic and purposeful contexts.
  • Mathematics

Students focus on developing mathematical reasoning by exploring core concepts such as number sense, algebraic thinking, geometry, and statistics, with an emphasis on solving situational problems rooted in real-world contexts. Students apply strategies, justify their reasoning, and communicate their understanding using appropriate mathematical language and representations.
  • Science

Students integrate theory and practice by applying the scientific method to explain and solve problems, conducting hands-on experiments, and using tools, objects, and procedures effectively. They also learn to communicate clearly in the language of science and technology.
  • Geography

Students study different types of territories, including regional, protected, urban, native, and agricultural territories. They learn to understand the organization of these spaces, interpret territorial issues, and connect their learning to a growing sense of global citizenship.
  • History and Citizenship Education

Students examine social phenomena from the first settlements to the modern world, interpret them using the historical method, and build a sense of citizenship by connecting historical events to contemporary realities.
By the end of Grade 8, students are well prepared to transition to Grade 9, equipped with the skills, knowledge, and critical awareness needed to meet advanced academic challenges.

Our students in our Modified Academic Program are prepared to enter into our High School Equivalency courses.
