  English

  In Grades 1–2, students build strong reading and writing skills through a phonics-based, multi-sensory approach. They practice printing, grammar, and writing daily, starting with sharing ideas and moving to simple stories. By the end of Grade 2, most can read short books on their own.
  
  

  In Grades 3–4, students become more independent readers and writers. They enjoy novels, write organized paragraphs in fiction and non-fiction, and learn to edit and improve their work.

  French as a Second Language

  Emphasis is placed on developing reading, writing, and oral communication, enabling students to build confidence in Quebec’s bilingual context.

  Mathematics

  Students learn math through a hands-on approach that includes play-based learning and real-life applications. They use games, manipulatives, and everyday situations to explore numbers, patterns, and problem-solving. This approach helps students build confidence, think critically, and understand how math connects to their daily lives, both at school and at home, while developing skills they will use in future learning and real-world situations.

  Science

  Science is taught through hands-on experiments and engaging picture books that spark curiosity and imagination. Students explore by asking questions, making observations, and trying things out. Through stories and simple investigations, they learn about the natural world, how things work, and how science connects to everyday life. This approach helps build confidence, curiosity, and a strong foundation for future learning.

  Social Studies

  Students in Grades 1–2 begin learning about the world around them, places, time, and community, through picture books and read-alouds that connect with language learning. 
  
  

  In Grades 3–4, students explore Quebec’s history, including the history of First Nations and early settlers. Through hands-on projects and stories, they learn about daily life and culture in Grade 3, and economy, government, and interactions in Grade 4, helping them understand how the past shapes today.
